How to Checkout on Hoobuy — 2026 EU-Focused Walkthrough
The Hoobuy checkout flow is straightforward but the DDP and VAT toggles matter. A focused walkthrough with emphasis on EU customs handling.
One toggle decides whether your EU parcel sails through customs or sits in a queue: DDP. Pre-pay the VAT, or pay it on delivery. Hoobuy's checkout is otherwise smooth, but that single choice is the biggest lever on your final landed cost.

Item checkout
Standard per-item or balance debit. Hoobuy has one useful toggle:
"Pre-QC at seller": costs 5 CNY extra; warehouse will inspect photos against your order before accepting from the seller. Reduces the chance of you wasting a QC cycle on an obviously-wrong item. Worth the 5 CNY on items over 500 CNY.
QC
48-72 hours after warehouse arrival. 5 default photos, same extra- photo upsell as others. Hoobuy's QC is apparel-strong, shoe-adequate. For critical sneaker QC use Kakobuy.
Submit for shipping — the critical EU decisions
When you submit a parcel to EU addresses, you'll see:
Option A — DHL Standard DDP (recommended)
- VAT pre-paid by Hoobuy at submit
- Parcel ships "duty paid" — no customs hold
- 8-12 days transit to most EU countries
- Cost: +15-25 EUR over the item+VAT-payable-later option
- Best for: 1-kg+ parcels; any item over 150 EUR value
Option B — 4PX Express (VAT payable on delivery)
- VAT charged by your national post/courier at delivery
- 10-14 days transit
- Cost: cheaper upfront; pay VAT later
- Best for: small-value items (<150 EUR)
- Risk: parcel can sit in customs for 3-7 extra days
Option C — EMS Standard
- VAT payable on delivery
- 14-21 days transit
- Cost: cheapest
- Risk: highest customs variability (GE/FR sometimes extensive hold)

- Germany: DHL DDP. Deutsche Post handles Hoobuy DDP cleanly.
- France: DHL DDP or DPD. La Poste 4PX handling is inconsistent.
- Netherlands: DHL DDP. PostNL is reliable on both routes.
- Belgium: DHL DDP strongly preferred. Bpost customs holds are aggressive.
- Italy: DHL DDP only. Poste Italiane holds non-DDP parcels for 10-14 days routinely.

Frequently asked
Does Hoobuy ship to Switzerland?
Yes via DHL. Switzerland is not EU; VAT handling is different. Hoobuy declares the parcel at Swiss-specific customs; you pay import duty at delivery.
Can I refuse the parcel to avoid VAT?
No. Once the parcel is in transit with DDP pre-paid, VAT isn't refundable. Without DDP, you can refuse and the parcel returns to Hoobuy — who charges a return fee.
Does Hoobuy ship to the UK?
Yes. UK has its own DDP flow post-Brexit. Hoobuy handles UK VAT separately from EU VAT.
What about Norway?
Yes. Norwegian customs handling is similar to Switzerland — not EU-aligned. DHL recommended.
